As medical office continues to show strength in Wichita, one of the city’s most prominent developments has added a pair of tenants from the sector.
Earlier this summer, MK Wound and Limb Preservation Clinic opened its doors at the Waterfront near 13th Street and Webb Road. In an adjoining space at 10346 Stonegate, Elite Compression & Bracing has also arrived.
MK Wound and Limb Preservation, which used to be located at Wesley Medical Center, provides specialized care in wound treatment, while Elite Compression works with patients that have chronic lymphedema.
“Our clinic operates much like a community — it’s more than just the sum of its parts,” said MK Wound and Limb Preservation Clinic owner Justin Gooden, in a news release.
The clinic, designed by HFG Architecture, includes floating ceilings, automatic double doors and a specialized ambulance entrance, along with high-end technology. It also has flexible space that can accommodate practice expansions.
HFG said it — alongside Vanessa Evans from MK Wound and Limb Preservation — executed on Gooden’s desire for a spa-like feel in the clinic with “elegant, beach-inspired features.”
“We’re really proud of the way this project turned out and thankful to Dr. Gooden and his staff for the opportunity to design such a patient-centered environment and best-in-class space,” HFG CEO David Wright said. “There aren’t many places you can have such a high-quality experience in a wound-care clinic, and that’s what we have now in the Wichita market.”
HFG also designed the space for Elite Compression & Bracing, which has similar aesthetics and is run by Gooden’s wife, Michaela Gooden.
The two offices cover around 11,600 square feet combined. Icon Structures served as general contractor with Basis Consulting Engineers and Dudley Williams & Associates also part of the project team.
Waterfront Ventures LLC is the building owner, with Caro Development managing and investing in the property. Landmark Commercial Real Estate’s Craig Simon worked the lease.
Of late, additional notable activity at The Waterfront has included Starbucks’ planned arrival by early 2025.
While northwest Wichita has become a growing medical office hotspot, the east side has held its own as a prime spot for medical office, according to real estate professionals.
Since 2023, activity has included new locations for Kansas Plastic Surgery on North Greenwich Road, Smiles Orthodontics at 127th and Central Avenue and Equipoise Healthcare near Rock Road and K-96.
“I think there’s obviously been, over the last 10 years, on the east side of town, this … medical corridor, which is Webb Road moving up from probably 13th Street all the way up to 29th Street,” Simon said in a recent interview. “There’s everything from medical specialty groups to dental that moved up along that corridor, it seems like, and then branching off from that.”
