Horton’s Carpets has had so much success with its store near Maple and Ridge Road, it’s opening a second west-side store at NewMarket North just north of NewMarket Square on Maize Road.
Co-owner Jesse Sauer says that area hasn’t had its own specialty carpet store.
“Everything will be very organized, so when customers come in, it’s just going to be a really simple process,” he says.
Customers can select carpet, get free measurements and usually have their purchases installed within a couple of weeks.
Carpet is Horton’s main focus, and the store has employees who install it. Horton’s does also sell hardwood, vinyl, laminate and tile floors, but it uses guaranteed subcontractor labor for installation for those.
Sauer says the new 4,000-square-foot store will have the latest styles and options. It will be next to Barre Forte Wichita and just down from HomeGrown.
He says he hopes to have the store open by the end of December.
Part of Horton’s success has been thanks to other stores that sell carpet, Sauer says. He says bad installations with other companies lead to more business for Horton’s.
“We’ve been busy.”
There’s also a Horton’s Carpets near 13th and Greenwich. Sauer says there aren’t plans for a second east-side store.
“But we’ll see. Anything could happen.”
