Now, the 60,000-square-foot, four-building complex – part of which is where the store is – has sold. The new landlord is amenable to Busch reducing his store’s space.
“The new landlord was interested in doing that for us, and we appreciate it,” Busch says.
“The store was really a lot bigger than it needed to be for the product we wanted to show,” he says.
It was also spread over a couple of buildings, including a former warehouse where customers didn’t appreciate shopping.
“It was always a bit of a problem because of the stairs, and the access to it was not good,” Busch says.
A reduction of space and inventory is a good thing for customers, he says.
“It gives them more product in a smaller area. It’s easier to shop,” Busch says.
“It looks a lot better the way it is. … There’s probably a better flow than there was before.”
Ted Branson of Landmark Commercial Real Estate and Carl Hebert of InSite Real Estate Group handled the sale of the complex.
Branson says the buyer doesn’t want to be identified but plans to use some of the space at the property for a business.
“It’ll make a great light assembly, light manufacturing facility for them,” Branson says.
There’s also 15,300 square feet of former Hickerson space available for lease.
