Mizu Sushi will open later this week or early next week in the building near 21st and Amidon where Sake closed in March.

A new sushi restaurant is opening in the spot at 2140 W. 21st St. that the popular Sakevacated in March.

Mizu Sushi should open later this week or early next week, said its owner, Rachel Xu, who previously ran a sushi restaurant in Virginia. She had friends in Wichita who encouraged her to open a restaurant here, Xu said.

The menu is posted online and includes sushi, sushi rolls and grill dishes as well as grill items like fried rice, teriyaki dishes and hibachi meals. The restaurant also will have online ordering from its website.

Once open, Mizu Sushi’s hours will be 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and noon to 9:30 p.m. on Sundays.

Meanwhile, Sake’s former owners Lee Li and her sushi chef husband, Leo Lin, are still working on Sapporo, which they hope to open this fall at 8065 E. Peachtree Lane, near the corner of Kellogg and Rock. They’re aiming for a November opening.

For information on Mizu Sushi, call 316-260-9996. I’ll let you know when the opening date is firm.
