After having to turn people away from his Air Capital RV Park at 47th and Broadway a year ago, Bill Morris began to think he should expand and buy some more ground.
Just recently, Morris purchased almost 14 acres of property south of his existing park, and has plans to add 220 parking spaces.
With the expansion, he plans to add 145 drive-through spaces and 77 back-in spaces as City Council is expected to approve a rezoning of the property from single-family residential to general commercial to allow for the new development.
Air Capital RV Park isn’t like any old RV park with gravel streets. Morris stated, “Everything in my park, all the square footage of that property is either concrete or sod grass. And these motor homes now will run anywhere from $50,000 to $2 million…So this is a class of people that are out there RVing now, and they sure don’t like it when it rains, so they really appreciate the way that we’ve built it. It’s a first-class RV park – everything about it.
Air capital RV Park, built in 2012, provides free cable and WiFi, a community room, showers, storm shelter, and laundry room along with about 90 concrete parking stalls.
Ted Branson of Landmark Commercial Real Estate handled the recent transaction on the final 5.74-acre property for the expansion.
They plan to start construction in spring if all of the permitting stays on schedule.
