Lisa Greenwood has no problem admitting she has “a weird fascination for helmets.”
“I don’t know how to explain it,” she says. “I like the graphics. I like the technology. And I like providing safety gear for people. It makes me feel good.”
She began selling helmets online four years ago and got serious about it for the last two years.
Now, she’s opening an Xtreme Helmets showroom in a new space near 29th and Ridge Road where she’s now basing her online business.
“It’s mostly an online business,” Greenwood says.
The showroom will open in a small part of her new 1,500-square-foot space at 7540 W. Northwind St. for customers to shop for the gear in person.
“I just wanted to give them a showroom to look at,” Greenwood says.
She specializes in helmets for off-road activities, such as those involving dirt bikes, ATVs and go-carts.
Greenwood also will sell some jackets and other gear.
“I just like all the gear,” she says. “I feel like I’m helping people out in choosing the right gear.”
Don Piros of Landmark Commercial Real Estate handled the deal for the new space.
The showroom will open around Jan. 10.
